Cold email agency pricing

Cold email agency pricing,
explained honestly.

What agencies charge, how each pricing model changes what they do for you, the costs that aren't on the proposal, and exactly what we charge.

Short answer Most B2B cold email agencies charge in one of three ways: a monthly retainer, a fee per booked meeting, or a hybrid of a smaller retainer plus per-meeting fees. Quoted retainers commonly fall somewhere between $2,000 and $10,000 a month, and per-meeting fees commonly between $150 and $600, but prices vary widely with volume, market, and how much of the work is done by senior people. Setup fees for domains, inboxes, and data are common. Mailinite charges $1,500 for an Offer Teardown, then $5,000 a month, with infrastructure included.
Pricing models

The three ways agencies charge.

None is automatically better. Each one changes what the agency is paid to care about, and that's the part to think about.

ModelHow it worksGood forWatch out for
Monthly retainerA fixed monthly fee for a defined scope of work.Predictable cost. The agency can afford to invest in research, offer work, and testing.Paying for activity instead of outcomes. Check exactly what's included and how results are reported.
Pay per meetingYou pay only for booked meetings that meet agreed criteria.Low upfront risk if you can't afford a retainer. The agency is paid to book meetings, not good ones. Expect debates about what counts as “qualified,” and pressure toward volume.
HybridA smaller retainer plus a fee or bonus per meeting.Shared risk between you and the agency. The same meeting-quality problem as pay per meeting, at a smaller scale.

Why we don't sell pay per meeting: guaranteed meetings are a cold email red flag.

Hidden costs

Costs that aren't on the proposal.

Cold email needs infrastructure, data, and your team's time. Some agencies include these; many bill them separately. Ask before you sign.

  1. Sending domainsSeveral separate domains so your main domain never sends cold. Each renews yearly.

  2. InboxesA few mailboxes per domain, each a paid monthly seat.

And one question that matters most: who owns the domains, inboxes, lists, and copy if you leave?

Is it worth it?

Do the math with your numbers.

A cold email agency is worth it when qualified meetings turn into enough revenue to cover the cost several times over. Plug in your own numbers.

Your numbers, not a promise from us. Revenue lands after your sales cycle, not in the month the meeting happens, and early months are for testing.

10 questions to ask
any cold email agency.

Good agencies answer these without hesitating. If an answer is vague, that's your answer.

  1. What happens in the first 30 days, before any email goes out?
  2. Who writes the emails, and will I approve every one?
  3. Who owns the domains, inboxes, lists, and copy if we part ways?
  4. Will you ever send from our main domain? The right answer is no.
  5. What counts as a qualified meeting, and who decides?
  6. How many emails will each inbox send per day?
  7. What will you report on every week or month?Opens are unreliable. Ask for replies, meetings, and pipeline.
  8. What's the minimum contract, and how do we cancel?
  9. Can I talk to a current client in a similar market?
  10. When would you tell me cold email isn't working for us?

Pricing questions.

How much does a cold email agency cost?

Most charge a monthly retainer, a fee per booked meeting, or a mix of both. Quoted retainers commonly fall between $2,000 and $10,000 a month and per-meeting fees between $150 and $600, but prices vary widely. Always ask what's included: domains, inboxes, data, and tools can add a meaningful amount on top.

Is pay per meeting cheaper than a retainer?

It can look cheaper up front, but it pays the agency to maximise meetings, not meeting quality. A handful of meetings with real buyers is usually worth more than a pile of polite calls.

Are setup fees normal for cold email agencies?

Yes, many agencies charge for setting up domains, inboxes, and warm-up. What matters is that you own what you paid for. Mailinite doesn't charge a setup fee; infrastructure is included in the monthly price.

Is an agency cheaper than hiring an SDR?

An in-house SDR costs a salary, tools, data, and management time, and usually takes months to ramp. An agency brings the infrastructure and process on day one. Which is cheaper depends on your volume and how much sales expertise you already have in-house.

Does Mailinite offer pay per meeting?

No. Meeting-based pricing pushes an agency to book anyone who'll take a call. We'd rather book fewer meetings with people who can actually buy, and we'll tell you early if cold email isn't working.

What's included in Mailinite's price?

The campaign fee covers offer testing, sending infrastructure, data, tools, reply handling, meeting booking, and a monthly market report. The one-time Offer Teardown is credited toward your first month if you continue.
